Oh give me a home............

Oh give me a home, where the missiles won’t roam
And the walls are not bloodied today
Where seldom is heard, a Zionist word
And the Muslims are not harassed all day

Home, home on the range
Where the Muslims and the Jewish Kids play
Where seldom is heard, a Zionist word
And the Muslims are not harassed all day

Project Management - the Mervyn way..

My father owns a land with a rumble down old house. It’s about time that I made good use of that plot to make a house of my own. In these troubled days where the pockets feel so light I was just wondering from where on earth I can get the stuff done for a very low fee. Hmmm….whom shall I approach??

I cannot start building a new house unless I demolish the existing structure. Mr E.O. from Zion Construction, Mr. V.P. from Northland Ltd and Mr. S.F. from Sutherland Cooperation are some folks that came to my mind.

I guess there is no contest there; EO has more sophisticated machinery to carry out the works successfully in lesser amount of time. A relatively new contractor HMAS Ltd promised to give me cheaper rates but they don’t have enough labour and plant capacity to do the job. Mr. EO already did a mock up CIVIL project in Gaza to prove that they were the people for the job. He was too modest to show me the real capacity of what they could do, but my friends sent me a set of forwards through email showing how good they are at doing the job. This did the trick and helped me make my choice. Mr. EO from Zion Constructions it is!

Then there is the excavation of the subsoil. I already told you I don’t have the cash to do a professional job……….so any suggestions? Hmm……Ohhh yes we have Mr. George, I’m sure he has some bunker busters left over from his last two projects in Afghanistan and Iraq. He can even get the services of his old Project Manager (PM) from England to oversee the dirty work, after all digging is not as easy as it seems. You need a real dog to go find the bone for you; in this case a poodle will do just fine.

From where can I import the rubble for the foundation and the concrete column structures? There are three suppliers who were recommended to me by my Consultant Engineer Mr. Ban Ki Moon.

1. The rubble left in Ariel Sharon’s quarry which he pioneered in 2006. He has his main supply chain in Qana, Lebanon.
2. Powdered quarry dust in the outskirts of Pakistan thanks to the Un-manned US Drones that Mr. George uses in his construction practice.
3. The finest brand of rock chips manufactured by the Russian Stone Supplier Mr. Putin from the borders of Georgia.

I’m not very particular about this, it all comes in a construction standard of its own. Let Mr. EO make the call, in spite of knowing that he will be biased towards giving the job to a person with whom he has already worked with, namely Mr. Sharon. This will even enable him to ask for discounts or even bulk up the supply if he needs to.

For bricks which will form the carcass of the building I’ll obviously go to China or India. They have plenty of low cost options especially because they use many low cost underage workers. Can’t blame me for being cost conscious can we?

The roof would be Aluminium. I have already procured some Aluminium sheets at throw away rates from the Toyota Car manufacturer in Japan. My venture might even give them new ideas in diversification to bolster there dwindling amount in car sales.

No point having a house without the needed electrical wiring. I could use some Sri Lankan parliamentarians who are experts in pulling wires. They know which wire goes where; have the capability of switching the blue and green wires as and when they need in order to EARTH themselves better. If all else fails; they always know when to pull the plug. So there MEP capabilities are unquestionable!

My neighbour always hunts for new ground. Only last week did we have an argument about who owns the Mango Tree in my garden. He seems to think he owns it just because some branches had wondered into his garden air space. Enough is enough; I need a really good boundary wall that won’t be able to be taken down. There is this Contractor from the 1940’s who did a successful job in Berlin, Germany. He might prove to be quite expensive and I don’t think he has the same vigor to cause a solid division between two persons as he did in the mid 19 hundreds. That’s where Mr. EO’s versatility and business tactics comes to play. He told me he is currently doing solid concrete partition work in the blessed land of Palestine and opted to do the same for me at no cost. Do you still think of why I preferred him to the others?

Finally comes the decorative works for my humble home. A patriotic friend who wants to strengthen our local markets suggested local suppliers such as Independent Taint Networks (ITN) and Painter-vahini. Beggars can’t be choosers, American suppliers such as the Cover Now or Never (CNN) and Faux Now or Never (FNN) have promised to do the whitewashing for cheaper rates.

Getting the emulsion from the Americans won’t be an issue, but finding a painter to do the job is not very easy these days. There seems to be a plague hitting the painters who point out the shortcomings in the HOUSE and they seem to be becoming extinct real fast. It is only a matter of time before we run out of good painters who judge the surface before choosing the correct type of paint needed.

My old friend Hamid Karzai from Afghanistan was very generous in his proposition to supply and grow poppy in my garden. I politely declined. I may not be able to afford roses and daffodils, but I’m quite content with the buffalo grass that Uncle Mervyn from Anuradhapura gave me for helping him keep count on the many International Summits that we seem to host.

Ill let you know if I need any more people for the job but I feel this is more than enough for now. Do comment and let me know if you have anyone else in mind that might do things for a cheaper rate.

A drive through history..

The first murder ever was when Abel brought down Cain,
the ill effects of jealousy saw one of the brothers slain
this day Man came to know that lives could be taken,
with Animal instincts’ flaring and human values forsaken

This first pint of blood spilt, was all but shed in vain,
The habit of causing pain topped even the addiction to cocaine!
The blood started dripping, with no seeming end in sight
The words of dialogue drowned by the inclination to fight

Mankind has slowly evolved from primitive days of old,
But alas not their values, for many a head had rolled…
..down the killing machines devised to do its part in glee,
People killing people and bullets you get so free!

The Industrial Revolution came, Communism came and went,
Blacks won some Rights and Colonialism lost its scent
The First World War done and the second one closely followed,
The “(Third World) War on Terror”, the world easily swallowed

Jews were tortured in camps and there children were left in the cold
Some of them embraced Zionism and committed the same manifold!
Little children were being killed and burnt in an angry spate,
The rubble overpowering them to submit to their tragic fate

Governments started killing, the very people who voted them in,
Sanctions made sure that kids… would pay for another’s sin!
Lands were made and lost, and people were used as bait,
Look under the letter “I” and you’ll find a Terrorist State!

To Japan said Uncle Sam, “You need more Chemistry in life”
The atomic bombs were dropped to the killer tunes of the fife
The champions of Vodka thinking “Man we need some Poppy”,
Their failure in Afghanistan they might never need to copy

No religion can be bashed, no philosophy can be blamed
But for sure I know one thing, these Terrorists can be tamed
Justice and equity is the key behind this bloody lock,
Through kindness and compassion this violence we could sock!

This world is big enough to hold us all together,
This mantra is my fodder and you, my Good Old Brother
Governments could never do this, nor organizations we see
Clearing this mess up is left for both YOU and ME!

If Americans knew what Israel is doing!!

My internet connection is too slow to keep up with live news telecasts as and when they happen. This made me take up the habit of keeping in tune with the latest events via youtube and other supplementary video sharing networks.

I came across this video when searching for video evidence of Israel's latest terrorist tirade in attacking the helpless civilians in Gaza. Sadly i didnt find much and youtube takes an attitude no different to the self censorship and obvious bias that the mass media and popular media adapts with regard to this conflict.

This video is titled "If Americans knew what Israel was doing!", the rest of the world is no different in terms of being misinformed. Lets hope common sense prevails soon and that the world takes a more active attitude towards bringing a stop to such attrocities not only in Palestine but also in other occupied lands where the violent actions of a minority outweighs the deafening silence of the good folks!

Open Letter to President Elect Barack Obama by Dr.Mahatir Mohomad.

Each New Year begins with hope and this year is no different. New Year resolutions are made and broken, so are the hopes of people. Barack Obama the most popular symbol of hope this time around is silently counting his steps to the White House. The expectation for change lingers on in a typical year baptized with the blood of innocent people. We can only HOPE that he does not prove himself to be The Typical American President that the world had seen in the recent past.

This is an email I came across which may or may have not originated by the said author. However, the points made stand true and will prove to be critical factors in distinguishing the revolutionary president elect from being a Revolutionary President!

Dear Mr. President,

I did not vote for you in the Presidential Election because I am Malaysian. But I consider myself one of your constituents because what you do or say will affect me and my country as well.
I welcome your promise for change. Certainly your country, the United States of America needs a lot of changes.

That is because America and Americans have become the most hated people in the world. Even Europeans dislike your arrogance. Yet you were once admired and liked because you freed a lot of countries from conquest and subjugation. It is the custom on New Year's day for people to make resolutions. You must have listed your good resolutions already. But may I politely suggest that you also resolve to do the following in pursuit of Change.

1) Stop killing people. The United States is too fond of killing people in order to achieve its objectives. You call it war, but today's wars are not about professional soldiers fighting and killing each other. It is about killing people, ordinary innocent people by the hundreds of thousands. Whole countries will be devastated.

War is primitive, the cavemen's way of dealing with a problem. Stop your arms build up and your planning for future wars.

2) Stop indiscriminate support of Israeli killers with your money and your weapons. The planes and the bombs killing the people of Gaza are from you.

3) Stop applying sanctions against countries which cannot do the same against you. In Iraq your sanctions killed 500,000 children through depriving them of medicine and food. Others were born deformed.
What have you achieved with this cruelty? Nothing except the hatred of the victims and right-thinking people.

4) Stop your scientists and researchers from inventing new and more diabolical weapons to kill more people more efficiently.

5) Stop your arms manufacturers from producing them. Stop your sales of arms to the world. It is blood money that you earn. It is un-Christian.

6) Stop trying to democratize all the countries of the world. Democracy may work for the United States but it does not always work for other countries. Don't kill people because they are not democratic. Your crusade to democratize countries has killed more people than the authoritarian Governments which you overthrew. And you have not succeeded anyway.

7) Stop the casinos which you call financial institutions. Stop hedge funds, derivatives and currency trading. Stop banks from lending non-existent money by the billions. Regulate and supervise your banks. Jail the miscreants who made profits from abusing the system.

8) Sign the Kyoto Protocol and other international agreements.

9) Show respect for the United Nations.

I have many other resolutions for change which I think you should consider and undertake. But I think you have enough on your plate for this 2009th year of the Christian Era.
If you can do only a few of what I suggest, you will be remembered by the world as a great leader. Then the United States will again be the most admired nation. Your embassies will be able to take down the high fences and razor-wire coils that surround them. May I wish you a Happy New Year and a great Presidency.

Yours Sincerely,
Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad
(Former Prime Minister of Malaysia)

I would like to quote the very words of the third president of the United States of America

“In matters of taste, swim with the current. In matters of Principle, stand like a rock!”
- Thomas Jefferson:

Is American foreign policy a matter of taste? Or a matter of principle? Only time will tell……..
