Saddam Hussein - His sun had set before the strike of dawn

The sun had begun readying its rays
A lone man sits, counting his days

A tap on the door and worst was to follow…
….the man who was shown the way to the gallows,

Why was this man compelled to heed
Such orders by men on the blessed day of Eid

“There is no god but, God” he cried,
Each word the crowd below defied

Never before such a sight was seen
Except on the likes of the silver screen

When balances life, on the cliff of death
Any mortal tends to value his breath,

But “Where are the attributes of a man” he says
With no hint of death written over his face!
Though the laws of the land may defy this phase
On this none cares what a religion has to say!

Another neck clasped on the jaw of the noose…
In folds the floor and his body hangs lose,

“We heard the crack of his neck” they state,
For the fact un-earthed needs no debate,

A snap of such could only be shown
On a man who posses a strong back bone
A shining example for bones which sway,
To the tune of powers who make their day!

No one could know and no one could tell,
The changes for good that was blessed by his cell

Though debris of history lay behind this man,
And dead men’s blood once trickled down his hand
But a thought just crosses the back of my mind,
Is he but not only, one person of such kind?

On earth many a leader, had once haughtily prowled
With hands from which human, blood had once fouled!
Leather seats and status are by no means a cover,
For such inhuman crimes by governments in power

Oh, Woe! On the men who kindle the mud...
..With constant spillage of innocent blood,
..And woe on evil minds behind his fate,
For funding invasions sponsored by the state

Oh, people of reason hold your emotions at bay,
For our children of tomorrow let’s prepare today

Though his sun had set before the strike of dawn,
New rays of hope will for sure light up the morn!

Its very sad to hear such an end to a person like saddam, I mean even though he persecuted many people, he shouldnt have been put to death on a noble day like the Festival.

Enjoyed your poem, although am not really into poems, nor Saddam =/ Allahu A'lam. But yeah... I agree the timing of execution was REALLY BAD :(
Hope to read more from ya!
