terms being intermittently used to describe the oppressor who continues to aggravate the Palestinian plight. But who then is the actual culprit? Is it the average Jew who celebrates Hanukkah and reads the Talmud? Or is it the Zionist who champions the cause of a separate Jewish state in both the legislative and operational levels? Or can it be the plain old Racist who has a bone to pick with anyone categorized as "The Other"?

To find out let’s have a look at a simple experiment carried out by a set of actors who stage a pre-scripted scenario. The experiment carried out which is in many ways is similar to Augusto Boal's Forum Theatre aims to measure the degree of reaction it stirs up in the unsuspecting persons visiting a gas pump in a Jewish neighbourhood.

I have forever campaigned for justice to be meted out to the Palestinians which they very well deserve, and I have always opined that the actual problem lies in racism and not in religion! Racism leads to Zionism and Zionism does not lead up to Judaism!

It is an unfortunate coincidence that the average Jew in Israel is brainwashed with a racist ideology which is in principle contradictory to the teachings of their scriptures. The educational curriculum, legislations passed and Religion is used as scapegoats by extremist elements in both camps to further the Arab-Israeli divide. The solution to the 60 year old conflict lies in having empathy and understanding towards the other and to respect the differences which are an intrinsic part of the values for which we stand for. Majority of the folks who happend to be caught up in this experiment looked beyond the rhetoric and connected humanely to the issue at hand. John F. Kennedy was right when he said:

Our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal.

“Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception (a deceiving thing).” (Al-Qur’an 3:185)

When the Game of Life Ends....

<img style="display:block; The thirst to catch the previous day’s six nations rugby highlights on youtube was bitterly quenched by a video which happened to be posted on my video feeds.

I fail to comprehend the silence in which the world seems to watch the atrocities carried out by a supposed Democracy on a helpless nation. What is it so dreadful that the Palestinians have done to the Zionists such that they deserve to be entirely cleansed from the Ancient Lands? A suicide bomb here and a car bomb there is no match for the targeted rockets that the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) so frequently dumps on Gaza and the West Bank. Some even say that Palestinian kids could one day grow up to set a meet record in the Olympics for the “Put-Shot” event with all the stone throwing practice that they seem to get for free. Understanding the essence of this conflict makes us differentiate between a democracy and an anarchist rule.

We may live in a country whose government neither supports nor speaks up against these misdoings, but we can! The city is still under siege, sharp shooters kill more men than a hunter does his game while the world watches in silence. Well, actually they are too busy following the Daka rally, watching Manchester United get knocked out and hearing snippets of the Tiger Woods fiasco. People would think me, an expat based in the Middle East to obviously feel more for the suffering that the fellow Arab and Muslim Nations are facing. Last year the Obama syndrome played spoil sport to their woes and this year the Burj Khalifa cast its shadow over a highly deserved tribute to Gaza.
In the light of this, I happened to read an article by Edward S. Herman a professor at University of Wharton in Pennsylvania U.S.A. The following is an extract from his book titled Israeli Ethnic Cleansing And The Moral Instinct. I would prefer calling it the Ten Commandments with the first one being added as a Commandment by the writer for completeness.

1. The most interesting and perhaps most important case of an aborted “moral instinct” is that involving Israel, where the state has been engaged in a systematic policy of dispossession and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians on the West Bank and in East Jerusalem for decades, not only without a meaningful response on the part of the Free World, but with steady support from the United States and spurts of approval and support from its democratic allies. The ability of the Western political leaders, media and humanitarian intellectuals to get enraged at approved villains like Arafat, Chavez, and Milosevic, while treating Begin, Netanyahu and Sharon kindly as statesmen deserving of economic and military aid and diplomatic support, is a small miracle of self-deception, advanced double standards, and moral turpitude. What makes it a miracle is that the basic premises as well as performance of the Israeli state fly in the face of the entire range of enlightenment values that supposedly underlie Western civilization.

2. It is a racist state as a matter of ideology and law. It is officially a Jewish state, 90 percent of the land in the state is reserved for Jews, Palestinians have been barred from leasing or buying state-owned lands that were seized in 1948 and later, and Jews from abroad have a right to immigrate and become citizens with privileges superior to those of indigenous non-Jews. This kind of ideology and law was unacceptable as regards the apartheid state of South Africa, although it is interesting that Reagan was “constructively engaged” with that state, Margaret Thatcher found it quite tolerable, and South African “anti-terror” operations were integrated with those of the Free World. [3] The Nazis treatment of the Jews in Germany even before the organization of the death camps was and still is considered outrageous; and the Soviet mistreatment of its Jewish population even led to punitive U.S. legislation (the Jackson-Vanik bill, still on the books). But the Israeli analogue of the Nuremberg laws and its construction of a state built on racial discrimination is acceptable to the enlightened West. The “chosen people” replace the “master race,” and that is not only acceptable, Israel is held up as a model democracy and “light unto the world” (Anthony Lewis). And by implication, Israel’s creation of a body of humans who are second class citizens by law (or of a still lesser class in the occupied territories), legally and politically “untermenschen,” is also acceptable. This is a unique system of “privileged racism.”

3. The Israeli state has been allowed to ignore numerous Security Council resolutions and the Fourth Geneva Convention regarding its occupation of the West Bank, as well as the International Court of Justice ruling on its apartheid wall, and simply dispossess the Palestinians of a large fraction of their land and water, demolish thousands of their homes, cut down many thousands of their olive trees, destroy their infrastructure, and create a modern network of roads through the occupied West Bank for Jews only while imposing serious obstacles to Palestinian movement within the West Bank. This systematic ethnic cleansing has been implemented by an extremely well trained and well equipped army working over a virtually unarmed indigenous population, to make room for Jewish settlers – and in violation of international law on the proper behavior of an occupying power. This is a unique system of “privileged ethnic cleansing,” “privileged law violations,” and “privileged exceptions to Security Council and International Court rulings.”

4. Israel has periodically crossed its borders to make war on its neighbors- Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon-has engaged in supplementary bombing or acts of terrorism against those three countries plus Tunisia, and for many years maintained a terrorist proxy army in Lebanon while carrying out numerous terrorist raids there under its Iron Fist policy, inflicting heavy civilian casualties. While the 1982 invasion of Lebanon was proclaimed to be in response to terrorist attacks, in fact it was based on the absence of terrorist attacks (despite deliberate Israeli provocations) and the fear of having to negotiate with the Palestinians rather than continue to ethnically cleanse them. [6] There was of course no punishment or sanctions against Israel for these actions, as Israel benefits from a “privileged right to aggression, state terrorism, and sponsorship of terrorism,” which is not unique but which follows from the country’s status as a U.S. ally and client state.

5. Given its right to ethnically cleanse and terrorize in violation of Security Council resolutions and international law, its victims have no right to resist. They may be pushed off their land, their homes demolished, olive trees uprooted, and their people killed by IDF and settler violence, but forcible resistance on their part is unacceptable “terrorism,” to be deeply deplored. A thousand odd Palestinians were killed by the Israelis during their first and non-violent phase of resistance in the initial intifada (1987-1992), but their passive resistance had no effects on the illegal occupation, the international community did nothing to alleviate their distress, and Israel had a tacit understanding with the United States that it would be supported in its violent response to the intifada until that resistance was broken. The ratio of Palestinians to Israelis killed in these years was 25 to 1 or higher, but given Israel’s privileged right to terrorize, it was the Palestinians still labelled the terrorists.

6. With full rights to ethnically cleanse and terrorize, and exempt from international law, the Israelis were also free to put in charge of the state a man responsible for a string of terrorist attacks on civilians and, at Sabra and Shatila, a massacre of somewhere between 800 and 3000 Palestinian civilians. Amusingly, the Yugoslav Tribunal argued that genocidal intent could be inferred from an action seeking to kill all the people of a given group in one area, even if not part of a plan to kill all them elsewhere, citing their own earlier decisions plus a UN Assembly resolution of 1982 that the slaughter of 800 at Sabra and Shatila was “an act of genocide.” But that kind of Tribunal judgment was applied only to target Serbs-it was not only not applied by the West to Sharon, it didn’t even interfere with his becoming an honored head of state.

7. With rights to ethnically cleanse and terrorize, such invidious words were made inapplicable to Israeli actions. They were applied with great indignation to Serb operations in Kosovo, which were features of a civil war (stoked from abroad) and were not, as in the Israeli case, designed to remove and replace an indigenous population in favor of a different ethnic group. Israel was not only exempt from charge of an extremely applicable pair of words, it has also been the beneficiary of privileged usage of the words “security” and “violence.” The Palestinians may be far more insecure than the Israelis and subject to a much higher and more sustained level of violence, but again it is the Palestinians who must reduce their resort to violence and the big issue is how Israel can be made more secure. Palestinian security is not an issue in the West, because their victimization is of no concern and because their insecurity is a result of their failure to accept the ethnic cleansing process and their resistance to that process. They are “unworthy victims,” by virtue of deep-seated political bias. The ethnic cleansing process, which involves wholesale terrorism, and is the causal force that has elicited a responsive Palestinian retail terrorism, is actually put forward (along with the wall), not as a deliberate program to “redeem the land” for the chosen people but as necessary for “Israel’s legitimate response to terrorism.” And the primary terrorists get away with this!

8. Israel is the only Middle Eastern state that has built up a stock of nuclear weapons, and it has been aided in this not only by the United States but also by France and Norway. This has happened despite the 39 years of ethnic cleansing, steady and record-breaking violations of Security Council demands and international law, and periodic invasions of Israel’s neighbors. This privileged right to nuclear weaponry and exemption from the jurisdiction of the International Atomic Energy Agency and Non-Proliferation Treaty flows from Israel’s other privileges noted earlier, and ultimately the protection and cover of U.S. power.

9. The Free World has been aghast at the possibility that Iran might be positioning itself to acquire nuclear weapons at some future date. Iran has of course been threatened with “regime change” and bombing and other attacks by both the United States and Israel, but Iran’s actions conflict with the regime of privilege in which only Israel (and its superpower underwriter) have a security problem and right of self defense; others, like the Palestinians on the West Bank, must accept a position of inferiority, acute insecurity, and ethnic cleansing and apartheid walls and policies. Still others, like Iran, must cope with the threat of attack and sanctions for engaging in legal actions and possibly seeking nuclear means of self-defense, without help from a Free World busily appeasing the United States and its Middle Eastern client. So Israel not only has a nuclear privilege, it is able to get the Free World to help it monopolize that privilege in the Middle East, which of course gives it greater freedom to ethnically cleanse.

10. The Free World has also been upset at the victory of Hamas in the Palestinian election of January 26, 2006. It is widely held that this may disturb the “peace process,” and George Bush is not prepared to negotiate with a group that employs “violence”! Violence, however, is the Bush and U.S. specialty, with three major aggressions in the last seven years and an openly announced program of domination based on military superiority; and Israel’s operations in Palestine are violent beyond anything the Palestinians have been able to muster, although in the ludicrously biased West “suicide bombing” is horrifying whereas “targeted assassinations” are not (although if the Palestinians had the capability of targeting Israeli officials who can doubt that this would horrify?). But just as “terrorism” cannot apply to the actions of the United States and its Israeli client, neither can an invidious word like “violence.” These states only “retaliate” and reluctantly use force in “self-defense” and with the best of intentions in service to their “security” and humanitarian ends-and the West buys this. Hamas has grown in popularity because Fatah and its leaders have failed to stop the ethnic cleansing process and have been unable to halt a steady increase in Palestinian misery, with Israel simply walking over Fatah’s leaders and making their tenure a complete failure. Hamas was actually funded by Israel years ago with the objective of splintering the Palestinians and weakening the secular Fatah. It succeeded in this, but now that an Islamic group has taken on power they and their patron will be able to find another reason to avoid any final negotiated settlement with the Palestinians, who have now voted in a party that does not eschew violence as Sharon and Bush have done! Hamas also refuses to disarm and insists on a right to defend its people against a ruthless ethnic cleansing occupation, but in the West this is unreasonable as only one side has the right to arms, self-defense and a concern over “security.” There is no right to resistance in this case of shriveled moral instincts.

The “peace process” is an ultimate Orwellism, which I defined years ago in a Doublespeak Dictionary as “Whatever the U.S. government happens to be doing or supporting in an area of conflict at the moment. It need not result in the termination of conflict or ongoing pacification operations in the short or long term.” So the “peace process” in Palestine, steadily accepted or actively supported by the U.S. government, has been characterized by intensified ethnic cleansing, the destruction of the Palestinian infrastructure, the settlement of some 450,000 Jews in the West Bank, the construction of an apartheid wall, and the Israeli takeover of much of East Jerusalem-in other words, the establishment by state terrorism of enough “facts on the ground” to make any kind of viable Palestinian state unthinkable. But for the propaganda organs of the Free World, there has been a meaningful “peace process” going on that the election of Hamas might halt!

THE END
Things have obviously moved on from this point. Hamas obviously won with an overwhelming majority which was an eye sore for the so called free world. So much for western backed democracy, pah!

Israel and the Free World - Is freedom overruled by anarchy?

<img style="display:block; The man who stood up for his nation in BARE FEET. The man who was willing to give up his SOLE for his people. His symbol of un-acceptance was the shoe and that he chose by his unwillingness to LACE UP his disgust.

I am free. But my country is still a prisoner of war. There has been a lot of talk about the action and about the person who took it, and about the hero and the heroic act, and the symbol and the symbolic act. But, simply, I answer: what compelled me to act is the injustice that befell my people, and how the occupation wanted to humiliate my homeland by putting it under its boot.

Over recent years, more than a million martyrs have fallen by the bullets of the occupation and Iraq is now filled with more than five million orphans, a million widows and hundreds of thousands of maimed. Many millions are homeless inside and outside the country.

We used to be a nation in which the Arab would share with the Turkman and the Kurd and the Assyrian and the Sabean and the Yazid his daily bread. And the Shia would pray with the Sunni in one line. And the Muslim would celebrate with the Christian the birthday of Christ. This despite the fact that we shared hunger under sanctions for more than a decade.

Our patience and our solidarity did not make us forget the oppression. But the invasion divided brother from brother, neighbour from neighbour. It turned our homes into funeral tents.

I am not a hero. But I have a point of view. I have a stance. It humiliated me to see my country humiliated; and to see my Baghdad burned, my people killed. Thousands of tragic pictures remained in my head, pushing me towards the path of confrontation. The scandal of Abu Ghraib. The massacre of Falluja, Najaf, Haditha, Sadr City, Basra, Diyala, Mosul, Tal Afar, and every inch of our wounded land. I travelled through my burning land and saw with my own eyes the pain of the victims, and heard with my own ears the screams of the orphans and the bereaved. And a feeling of shame haunted me like an ugly name because I was powerless.

As soon as I finished my professional duties in reporting the daily tragedies, while I washed away the remains of the debris of the ruined Iraqi houses, or the blood that stained my clothes, I would clench my teeth and make a pledge to our victims, a pledge of vengeance.

The opportunity came, and I took it.

I took it out of loyalty to every drop of innocent blood that has been shed through the occupation or because of it, every scream of a bereaved mother, every moan of an orphan, the sorrow of a rape victim, the teardrop of an orphan.

I say to those who reproach me: do you know how many broken homes that shoe which I threw had entered? How many times it had trodden over the blood of innocent victims? Maybe that shoe was the appropriate response when all values were violated.

When I threw the shoe in the face of the criminal, George Bush, I wanted to express my rejection of his lies, his occupation of my country, my rejection of his killing my people. My rejection of his plundering the wealth of my country, and destroying its infrastructure. And casting out its sons into a diaspora.

If I have wronged journalism without intention, because of the professional embarrassment I caused the establishment, I apologise. All that I meant to do was express with a living conscience the feelings of a citizen who sees his homeland desecrated every day. The professionalism mourned by some under the auspices of the occupation should not have a voice louder than the voice of patriotism. And if patriotism needs to speak out, then professionalism should be allied with it.

I didn't do this so my name would enter history or for material gains. All I wanted was to defend my country.

Muntazer al-Zaidi is an Iraqi reporter who was freed this week after serving nine months in prison for throwing his shoe at former US president George Bush at a press conference. margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 404px; height: 289px;" src="http://la.indymedia.org/uploads/2009/01/an-israeli-soldier-palestinian-family.jpg" border="0" alt="" />

War has forever bewildered me. The reasons for war are not hard to find but identifying the motive behind waging war is an entirely different thing. I have always been curious to know what runs through the mind of individuals involved in warfare. I know people who loathe eating meat or seeing animals being slaughtered for meat. The human psychology dictates that a sense of compassion is felt toward all lives be it human or animal. If this statement bears true, what makes the human race to be at the forefront of soiling their hands with the blood of their fellows? This question has intrigued me thus far and will continue to do so till I breathe my last.

No war has hit home hard as much as the Middle Eastern conflict between the Arabs and the (rogue) State of Israel. I am guilty as charged for not having the same intense feelings for the Muslims, Tamils and Sinhalese who were plagued and are still continuing to live the harsh after effects of an Ethnic Conflict in Sri Lanka. This statement should not be misunderstood. I feel for my fellow country men from the bottom of my heart and detest the state of affairs of the people living in the IDP camps conveniently forgotten by the people in power. However, there is something in me towards the Middle Eastern conflict that gives it precedence over conflicts in my backyard or other conflicts triggered by invading nations in Iraq or Afghanistan. This feeling can only be felt and is hard to put into words.

The creation of The Rogue State of Israel and the Muslims attitude to the conflict will rarely change. Israel will remain the spoilt child and the Muslim and Christian Arabs will continue to be their toys to play with as they please. Muslims believe that no foreseen change will occur to the essence of the Middle Eastern political affairs till the second coming of Jesus occurs in his mission to reunite earth. This being said in no means justifies the inhuman course of action followed by the Zionist regime and in no means provides an excuse for the Arabs to let themselves be trampled over.

The sentiments felt by Muslims around the world are nothing new to me. The mixture of anger, helplessness and bewilderment on seeing the gory images of slaughtered Arabs that go unpublished are ever too familiar for me. This gave me the impulse to explore the other side of the story, the Zionist outlook on things.

I was first introduced to intelligence warfare by reading the book “By The Way Of Deception" authored by former Mossad agent Victor Ostrovsky. This book provides an inside account of how the affairs of the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and the Israeli Intelligence defies the realms of humanistic behaviour in search of politically backed goals.

The results obtained left me stupefied at the audacity in which the Zionists carefully mapped out their heinous crimes. In no means do we doubt or deny the intelligence of the Jewish people, they have been in the forefront of innovative discoveries in the last two centuries. However, what petrifies me is how such an intelligent people are brainwashed by the Zionist government to fight a war that’s not theirs for a country which was not theirs!

Clicking on this link will take you to the 1st of a 6 part documentary whose production team is 100% Israeli Jewish. I beg you to watch the entire series and not be satisfied with a single part only. Doing the latter will paint a wrong image on your mind and distort your outlook on the Israeli-Arab conflict.

This video details the experiences of six women soldiers and explains how working at the Israeli Military shaped their lives. The intensity of brainwashing and the authority given to the women soldiers over all Arabs young and old, male or female made me wonder what the men folk would be learning from their commandoes at the same camp. This is indeed a question which can be answered but can in no means be justified or explained by the rules of international warfare!

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

Part 6

The last lap before death........

<img style="display:block; It had nothing to do with the Labour Day which is globally commemorated; rather my thoughts trod on the wings of time exhausted three years afore.

“It’s settled then, no practices on Monday………take good rest and come back fresh on Tuesday” These were the words spoken by the captain and echoed by the seniors of a team which more than fancied itself to bring home lost glory in the rugby arena. This was Friday the 29th of April 2006 which was to be followed up by three whole days to spend as we wished.

The bulk of the team were final year colours-man and candidates for the Advanced levels. The rare holidays were grabbed with both hands to make up for lost study time and to rejuvenate the body that was tortured by the continuous rugby drills more suitable for Airmen than for rugby players.

The weekend flew like every other and the only free day that remained was the public holiday dedicated to mark the May Day. The fateful day dawned, the morning disappeared into thin air and afternoon merged with the night in the wink of an eye. Determined to make use of the late night to remove the guilt of staying idle during the day, I sat on my table right after dinner and went on with my pre planned work. The crowd of family members around me disappeared into their places of rest with the ticking of the clock and what remained was a lonesome figure poised over the pages of a notebook lit up by the dim rays of lone study lamp.

“rrrriinggggg…..” the phone screamed and I raced to pick it up fearing it would wake up the folks at home. Who the hell would want to call me at this hour I was wondering.

“Hello Machan mey Yasa………” he did not need to finish the sentence as his voice was ever to familiar. He’s the chap closest to me in the thick of the rugby game by virtue of position. There was a distinct urgency in the voice of Yasas that was heard very rarely and which emerged only when he was put under intense pressure as the team’s full-back.

“What’s up man??” I quizzed. It is then that he proceeded to tell me how one of our very close colleagues Randhil Thilina had been lost at sea. I was jolted from my half daze “what???”

“Yeah”, he said “He had gone on a family outing and has drowned himself while trying to bathe in the sea, his body has not yet been recovered……………the navy is still at work trying to find a trace of him”.

Randhil for most was a rebel, a man on his own-a lone ranger. His peers respected him, most juniors dared not cross his path and the seniors were cautious in their dealings with him. This reaction was demanded by the direct approach he took to matters which concern him which would have been seen as rash to some. However, people with whom he confided knew him to be a faithful friend, humble in character and meek in approach. All these values were tightly bound in a thin cocoon which had the potential to explode when the need arose.

For those who didn’t know him, Randhil was 175 pounds of pure energy which had in abundance grit, perseverance, an uncanny physical fitness larger than his frame, an unrelenting friendship and the brains to go with it. He was at the peak of his game, topping even the fastest of backline players in his fitness and form. In other words, he was a player marked as a potential threat for all teams vying for honours in the rugby league of that time. His loss indeed created a great void which we figured we would never be able to compensate.

The flanker of the team was effectively outflanked by the waves of the ocean which continued in its flow indifferent to its guilt. While players like Randhil were in the limelight, other junior players were slowly but surely sprouting in his shadow. The replacement for Randhil was found in a place we least expected it to emerge from.

Motivated by the success enjoyed by the senior team, the junior players tried hard to maintain the same hold on the local rugby arena. One such player who built a name for himself within his age group was Chanaka Peters. It was a half chance taken by the coach to promote this skinny lad into the big league in 2005….….and that too to compliment the void left open by Randhil.

The nippy kid grabbed his chance and deftly removed the stereotype that was assigned to flankers. His approach to the game was not of a conventional flanker; rather it was a perfect hybrid between third row might and back division speed to propel him into being one of the most effective flankers to hold on to the position for Wesley after Kasun De Silva in 2004.

The most memorable moments of Chanaka’s play in 2005 came when he sent back one of the most feared players of the game Namal Rajapakse back to the dugout grimacing with pain. STC used this stocky lad in a way which was overly predictable. The move which involved the STC number 8(Namal) peeling from the blindside was countered by the blindside flanker (Chanaka) with a bone crunching tackle that made his opposite number ineffective to the cause. Further, No Wesleyite would forget the violence marred President’s Trophy semi final in 2005 against Kingswood College where Chanaka made useless the kicks of Erandha Weerakkody and succeeded in making Kingswood’s game plan redundant.

Chanaka playing in the position of centre along with a band of other young players continued their good work for the 1st XV team in 2006 and passionately fought to bring the elusive President’s Trophy and league championship back to Wesley.

Ironically 4 days ago I met my friend and messenger of obituaries Yasas again. This time I met him through the internet as I have been away from home and country for close to a year. One of the very fist words he told me was “Machan, podi aulak (Small problem)……………..Chanaka is dead”. This disbelief that took hold of me didn’t allow me to accept the loss of another young life who had more than a chance of carving his name along with the rugby greats of the country.

Chanaka had his ups and downs in life and made his share of enemies; However, his core was always truthful to the game of rugby. His vision for the game was far beyond his age and his dedication was exceptional. The most distinctive characteristic of the little chap was that he moved with both young and old as peers attributing the suffix “machan” to all he met.

A young wick of light was doused long before it cast its shine on the rugby scene and we as youth are saddened by his demise and share his family’s grief and sorrow.

Never did I imagine that Randhil Thilina would be joined by one of his staunchest colleagues in the appreciation of his work. This article being released a couple of days prior to the 1st of May in itself bears testimony that the little man had spun his magic even during the course of his last goodbye.

The will of god has it that the flanker was effectively outflanked and the little bullet was murderously outgunned!

Racism in America???

Barack Obama may have broken the shackles to become the first black American president of the United States, but people still hold on to the old hatred dictated by colour and race..............or do they?

This video provides a realistic insight of the stereotypes that black people have to encounter on a day to day basis. The following words were extracted from one of the comments posted in response to a video shown on the same web page.

I am a Jew (by my mother) and a Tunisian (by my father), French citizen, without any religious belief.

People of my family died during World War 2, and I had no circumcision since many boys in France died because of it (German soldiers identified Jewish boys that way).

When I see what Israel soldiers do, I feel shame. Personally, I never could press the trigger if I knew that my missile will target a crowded area, and when I see the face of these Palestinian kids, I cannot help viewing this old picture of that terrorized Jewish kid in the ghetto of Warsaw, raising his arms with German soldiers laughing in his back.

I do not support Hamas neither, but I feel that Palestinian have no other choice than that.

Once more, Israelis should remember the insurrection of the Warsaw ghetto. In the end, people put gasoline on them and ran towards tanks. They knew that they would be killed anyway, so better die while trying to kill enemies. Don't you feel that, from a Palestinian viewpoint, the Hamas is pretty similar?/em>em>

As human beings we should stand up against such atrocities and create a balance between identifying a freedom fighter from a terrorist. The key to this is empathy or putting yourself in the shoes of the oppressed. Our safe houses and relatively calm dwellings do not trigger this feeling of empathy and we sit on watching intoxicated by our whims and pleasures.

Sadly Sri Lanka too is undergoing a similar fate where innocent civilians are being slaughtered for the actions of another and the blind masses keep fuelling the war machine to do its destructive deed. We cannot be mere onlookers, but should work towards bringing a voice to the voiceless in every area of conflict!

Why this spate of hate?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 220px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rPtdqWGOQ7w/SawCty3wZMI/AAAAAAAAADY/ucJTM3BmVBo/s320/untitled.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5308621046535972034" />
Would you support a racist if you know he stems racial hatred? It’s about time that I made good use of that plot to make a house of my own. In these troubled days where the pockets feel so light I was just wondering from where on earth I can get the stuff done for a very low fee. Hmmm….whom shall I approach??

I cannot start building a new house unless I demolish the existing structure. Mr E.O. from Zion Construction, Mr. V.P. from Northland Ltd and Mr. S.F. from Sutherland Cooperation are some folks that came to my mind.

I guess there is no contest there; EO has more sophisticated machinery to carry out the works successfully in lesser amount of time. A relatively new contractor HMAS Ltd promised to give me cheaper rates but they don’t have enough labour and plant capacity to do the job. Mr. EO already did a mock up CIVIL project in Gaza to prove that they were the people for the job. He was too modest to show me the real capacity of what they could do, but my friends sent me a set of forwards through email showing how good they are at doing the job. This did the trick and helped me make my choice. Mr. EO from Zion Constructions it is!

Then there is the excavation of the subsoil. I already told you I don’t have the cash to do a professional job……….so any suggestions? Hmm……Ohhh yes we have Mr. George, I’m sure he has some bunker busters left over from his last two projects in Afghanistan and Iraq. He can even get the services of his old Project Manager (PM) from England to oversee the dirty work, after all digging is not as easy as it seems. You need a real dog to go find the bone for you; in this case a poodle will do just fine.

From where can I import the rubble for the foundation and the concrete column structures? There are three suppliers who were recommended to me by my Consultant Engineer Mr. Ban Ki Moon.

1. The rubble left in Ariel Sharon’s quarry which he pioneered in 2006. He has his main supply chain in Qana, Lebanon.
2. Powdered quarry dust in the outskirts of Pakistan thanks to the Un-manned US Drones that Mr. George uses in his construction practice.
3. The finest brand of rock chips manufactured by the Russian Stone Supplier Mr. Putin from the borders of Georgia.

I’m not very particular about this, it all comes in a construction standard of its own. Let Mr. EO make the call, in spite of knowing that he will be biased towards giving the job to a person with whom he has already worked with, namely Mr. Sharon. This will even enable him to ask for discounts or even bulk up the supply if he needs to.

For bricks which will form the carcass of the building I’ll obviously go to China or India. They have plenty of low cost options especially because they use many low cost underage workers. Can’t blame me for being cost conscious can we?

The roof would be Aluminium. I have already procured some Aluminium sheets at throw away rates from the Toyota Car manufacturer in Japan. My venture might even give them new ideas in diversification to bolster there dwindling amount in car sales.

No point having a house without the needed electrical wiring. I could use some Sri Lankan parliamentarians who are experts in pulling wires. They know which wire goes where; have the capability of switching the blue and green wires as and when they need in order to EARTH themselves better. If all else fails; they always know when to pull the plug. So there MEP capabilities are unquestionable!

My neighbour always hunts for new ground. Only last week did we have an argument about who owns the Mango Tree in my garden. He seems to think he owns it just because some branches had wondered into his garden air space. Enough is enough; I need a really good boundary wall that won’t be able to be taken down. There is this Contractor from the 1940’s who did a successful job in Berlin, Germany. He might prove to be quite expensive and I don’t think he has the same vigor to cause a solid division between two persons as he did in the mid 19 hundreds. That’s where Mr. EO’s versatility and business tactics comes to play. He told me he is currently doing solid concrete partition work in the blessed land of Palestine and opted to do the same for me at no cost. Do you still think of why I preferred him to the others?

Finally comes the decorative works for my humble home. A patriotic friend who wants to strengthen our local markets suggested local suppliers such as Independent Taint Networks (ITN) and Painter-vahini. Beggars can’t be choosers, American suppliers such as the Cover Now or Never (CNN) and Faux Now or Never (FNN) have promised to do the whitewashing for cheaper rates.

Getting the emulsion from the Americans won’t be an issue, but finding a painter to do the job is not very easy these days. There seems to be a plague hitting the painters who point out the shortcomings in the HOUSE and they seem to be becoming extinct real fast. It is only a matter of time before we run out of good painters who judge the surface before choosing the correct type of paint needed.

My old friend Hamid Karzai from Afghanistan was very generous in his proposition to supply and grow poppy in my garden. I politely declined. I may not be able to afford roses and daffodils, but I’m quite content with the buffalo grass that Uncle Mervyn from Anuradhapura gave me for helping him keep count on the many International Summits that we seem to host.

Ill let you know if I need any more people for the job but I feel this is more than enough for now. Do comment and let me know if you have anyone else in mind that might do things for a cheaper rate.
<img width='1' height='1' news telecasts as and when they happen. This made me take up the habit of keeping in tune with the latest events via youtube and other supplementary video sharing networks.

I came across this video when searching for video evidence of Israel's latest terrorist tirade in attacking the helpless civilians in Gaza. Sadly i didnt find much and youtube takes an attitude no different to the self censorship and obvious bias that the mass media and popular media adapts with regard to this conflict.

This video is titled "If Americans knew what Israel was doing!", the rest of the world is no different in terms of being misinformed. Lets hope common sense prevails soon and that the world takes a more active attitude towards bringing a stop to such attrocities not only in Palestine but also in other occupied lands where the violent actions of a minority outweighs the deafening silence of the good folks!

Open Letter to President Elect Barack Obama by Dr.Mahatir Mohomad.

Each New Year begins with hope and this year is no different. New Year resolutions are made and broken, so are the hopes of people. Barack Obama the most popular symbol of hope this time around is silently counting his steps to the White House. The expectation for change lingers on in a typical year baptized with the blood of innocent people. We can only HOPE that he does not prove himself to be The Typical American President that the world had seen in the recent past.

This is an email I came across which may or may have not originated by the said author. However, the points made stand true and will prove to be critical factors in distinguishing the revolutionary president elect from being a Revolutionary President!

January 1, 2009

Dear Mr. President,

I did not vote for you in the Presidential Election because I am Malaysian. But I consider myself one of your constituents because what you do or say will affect me and my country as well.
I welcome your promise for change. Certainly your country, the United States of America needs a lot of changes.

That is because America and Americans have become the most hated people in the world. Even Europeans dislike your arrogance. Yet you were once admired and liked because you freed a lot of countries from conquest and subjugation. It is the custom on New Year's day for people to make resolutions. You must have listed your good resolutions already. But may I politely suggest that you also resolve to do the following in pursuit of Change.

1) Stop killing people. The United States is too fond of killing people in order to achieve its objectives. You call it war, but today's wars are not about professional soldiers fighting and killing each other. It is about killing people, ordinary innocent people by the hundreds of thousands. Whole countries will be devastated.

War is primitive, the cavemen's way of dealing with a problem. Stop your arms build up and your planning for future wars.

2) Stop indiscriminate support of Israeli killers with your money and your weapons. The planes and the bombs killing the people of Gaza are from you.

3) Stop applying sanctions against countries which cannot do the same against you. In Iraq your sanctions killed 500,000 children through depriving them of medicine and food. Others were born deformed.
What have you achieved with this cruelty? Nothing except the hatred of the victims and right-thinking people.

4) Stop your scientists and researchers from inventing new and more diabolical weapons to kill more people more efficiently.

5) Stop your arms manufacturers from producing them. Stop your sales of arms to the world. It is blood money that you earn. It is un-Christian.

6) Stop trying to democratize all the countries of the world. Democracy may work for the United States but it does not always work for other countries. Don't kill people because they are not democratic. Your crusade to democratize countries has killed more people than the authoritarian Governments which you overthrew. And you have not succeeded anyway.

7) Stop the casinos which you call financial institutions. Stop hedge funds, derivatives and currency trading. Stop banks from lending non-existent money by the billions. Regulate and supervise your banks. Jail the miscreants who made profits from abusing the system.

8) Sign the Kyoto Protocol and other international agreements.

9) Show respect for the United Nations.

I have many other resolutions for change which I think you should consider and undertake. But I think you have enough on your plate for this 2009th year of the Christian Era.
If you can do only a few of what I suggest, you will be remembered by the world as a great leader. Then the United States will again be the most admired nation. Your embassies will be able to take down the high fences and razor-wire coils that surround them. May I wish you a Happy New Year and a great Presidency.

Yours Sincerely,
Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad
(Former Prime Minister of Malaysia)

I would like to quote the very words of the third president of the United States of America

“In matters of taste, swim with the current. In matters of Principle, stand like a rock!”
- Thomas Jefferson:

Is American foreign policy a matter of taste? Or a matter of principle? Only time will tell……..

Oblivious to the suffering triggered by the people of my kind!

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5189100484938793234" style="DISPLAY: block; You will remain in good as long as you follow my advice. There are three signs of the believer: obligatory prayer, fasting and alms.

The pretender has three signs: he flatters when someone is present, backbites when the person is absent, and curses affliction.

The wrongdoer has three signs: he overpowers those under him, disobeys those above him, and abets injustice.

The one who shows off has three signs: he is energetic when he is with people, lazy when he is alone, and wants to be praised in all matters.

The hypocrite has three signs: when he speaks, he lies; when he promises he breaks it; and when he is trusted he betrays.

The lazy person has three signs: he is slow until he neglects, neglects until he loses, and loses until he sins.

The intelligent person should be intent only in three things: getting livelihood right, pleasure in what is not unlawful or a step he takes for the Next World.

A part of certainty is that you do not please anyone by angering God, you do not praise anyone for what God has given him, nor do you censure anyone for what God has not given him.

Provision is not procured by the greed of someone avaricious nor is it turned aside by the dislike of one who dislikes it. God—glory be to Him and Exalted is He—placed rest and joy in certainty and pleasure in the distribution of God.

He placed sorrow and care in displeasure at God's distribution. There is no poverty worse than ignorance and no wealth more generous than the intellect. There is no isolation more alienating than pride and no support more reliable than consultation. There is no faith like certainty and no scrupulousness like refraining. There is no beauty like beauty of character and no worship like reflection.

Everything has a bane. The bane of speech is lying. The bane of knowledge is forgetting. The bane of worshipping is showing off. The bane of elegance is pomposity. The bane of courage is injustice.
The bane of magnanimity is making someone feel indebted. The bane of beauty is haughtiness. The bane of lineage is boasting. The bane of modesty is weakness. The bane of nobility is boasting. The bane of graciousness is miserliness. The bane of generosity is extravagance. The bane of worship is arrogance. The bane of the religion is passion.

When someone praises you to your face, say, 'O God, make me better than what they say; forgive me for what they do not know, and do not call me to account for what they say.' Then you will be safe from whatever they say. When you are performing the obligatory fast, when you end fast in the evening say, 'O God, I have fasted for you and I end the fast with your provision,' and then the reward of those who fasted that day will be written for you without that decreasing their rewards. Know that every faster has a supplication which is answered. If anyone says with the first morsel he takes when he breaks fast, 'In the Name of God, the All-Merciful, Ever Merciful. O Vast of forgiveness! Forgive me,' he will be forgiven.
